Leo Vargas is an Actor, Singer, Voice Artist, Dancer, Writer, Producer, Director,
Master Teaching Artist, Leadership Coach, and former showroom Model.
He has been fortunate enough to perform on every major American television network to include a recurring role on FOX’s ‘House’, Guest Star roles on HBO’s ‘Arli$$, NBC’s ‘The Tracy Morgan Show’, ABC’s ‘General Hospital’ & ‘The Rookie’, as well as FX’s ‘Mayans M.C.’ Leo also played the leading man in the feature film ‘Havana Habana’ along with a supporting role in Duane Martin’s film, ‘The Seat Filler’.
Mr. Vargas has also taken his talent throughout the world on a variety of stages with lead roles in musicals such as “Kenickie” in the European tour of ‘Grease’, “Paco” in the late Luis Avalos’ production of ‘Paquitos Christmas’ throughout Los Angeles County and Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center, and, most recently, as the lead of “MC” in the Canadian production of ‘Conga’ at the Fallsview Resort in Niagara Falls, Canada.
Singing is where it all began for this young man. With Gospel roots as an ensemble member and soloist at the University of California, Santa Barbra (UCSB), he has ministered all throughout Los Angeles for events with KJLH radio personality, Andrae Russel, and the LA Gospel Circuit. Leo avidly writes, performs and records today while diligently working to complete his first full length musical entitled ‘SHINE’.
As a Master Teaching Artist, Leo has led arts education programs for every large arts ed organization throughout Los Angeles to include serving as Program Manager at ‘The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company’, Lead Teaching Artist for a 3 year residency at the Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) with ‘P.S. Arts’ as well as within a variety of juvenile detention centers and probation camps such as Eastlake Juvenile Hall in DTLA and Camp David Gonzalez in Calabasas. He began this part of his career with East LA Classic Theatre (E.C.T) and continues to train Teaching Artists today to maintain the goal of guiding underserved and at-risk youth in discovering and sharing their voices through performance arts. In Leadership, Leo has had the opportunity to coach staff and executives at some of the largest corporations like Nike, Puma, Addidas, Comverse, and Mission Foods with the organization, Developing Leaders.
Leo is happy to be a working professional in the world of the arts and leadership…and will continue to use his talents whenever he can to “gift back”.
